This Week’s Riddles

Riddle 1 – Who Am I?
Matthew mentions five of us
In Jesus’ family tree.
Four of us are named by name.
The other isn’t me.
I lived long before the Gospels.
There are no books that have my name.
That eliminates three of us.
Only two of us remain.
My story has a scarlet thread.
But here’s another twist.
It wasn’t hung outside a wall.
It was tied to someone’s wrist.

Riddle 2 – What Am I?
There was only one of me.
I’m unique, in effect.
I’m often called by a common name,
But that is not correct.
I was prepared for a special task
And a special situation.
You might think I’m unusual
As a mode of transportation.
I’ve been compared to the tomb
Where Jesus’ body lay.
There was once a prayer in me
Though I could never pray.
